Health Quality Ontario (HQO) monitors all aspects of the health system in Ontario. Family Councils Ontario has been actively participating in various HQO initiatives through being members of two committees: the Public Reporting Committee and the Communications Working Group. As a member of the Long-Term Care Public Reporting Committee, FCO has been focused on ensuring that information family members who have relatives in Long-Term Care need is available, comprehensive and clear.
Residents First is an initiative of HQO and is a comprehensive quality improvement initiative that supports Long-Term Care Homes in Ontario in providing an environment for their residents that enhances their quality of life. Residents First also facilitates comprehensive and lasting change by strengthening the Long-Term Care sector's capacity for quality improvement. Family Councils Ontario is a member of the Steering Committee of the Residents First Initiative ensuring that the issues and challenges that families face is an integral part of the Residents First initiative.
