Visiting Policy- December 26 2020
This COVID-19 Visiting Policy (policy) is provided to support homes in implementing the requirements in Directive #3 and the Minister’s Directive to safely receive visitors while protecting residents, staff, and visitors from the risk of COVID-19.
This policy is effective on December 26, 2020. All previous versions of the visiting policy are revoked and replaced with this version.

In November, the Ontario government released the COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open. The framework categorizes public health regions into five levels: Green-Prevent, Yellow-Protect, Orange-Restrict, Red-Control, and Grey-Lockdown being a measure of last and urgent resort.
The Ministry would like to advise the sector on changes to Directive #3 for Long-Term Care Homes under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 (Directive #3), effective December 9, 2020.

The Chief Medical Officer of Health has released an update to COVID-19 Directive #3 for Long-Term Care Homes under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 (Directive #3), effective October 16, 2020 that provides direction on resident absences from the long-term care home.
