Visiting guidelines - September 9 2020

The Ministry of Long-Term Care has released a long-awaited updated visiting policy, effective September 9th, 2020.

Changes to the policy include clarification on visitors, screening, close contact between residents and visitors, and guidance on non-compliance. One of the key highlights of this policy is the introduction of a process for identifying and designating “essential caregivers.”

Resident Absences under COVID-19 Directive #3 for Long-Term Care Homes under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007

The Chief Medical Officer of Health has released an update to COVID-19 Directive #3 for Long-Term Care Homes under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 (Directive #3), effective August 28, 2020, that provides direction on resident absences from the long-term care home. Under the updated Directive #3, residents may leave the home’s property for a short stay or temporary absence. Please see the attached documents.
