What FCO is doing to help during COVID-19

Communicating with government:

We’re in regular contact with the Ministry of Long-Term Care to share your concerns & questions, provide input on proposed responses to the COVID-19 solutions for long-term care, and request clarification on government initiatives. The Ministry is listening to your concerns and ideas. Please continue to get in touch so we can share your thoughts with government and sector partners.

Developing ways to support families:

We’re continuing our Virtual Family Forums to share your concerns, brainstorm ideas for maintaining a connection with residents during the visitor restriction, ask FCO staff questions about the COVID-19 situation and how it is impacting LTC, and give and receive support from your peers. Continuing our Family Council work:

While Family Council work has been halted and changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we know that when this is over, Councils will come back stronger than ever and eager to improve the quality of life in Ontario’s long-term care homes. To make sure that we offer the highest quality and most appropriate support to the Council members and home staff who rely on us, we are continuing to develop and update our educational resources; are collaborating with our sector partners; and, are redeveloping our website. When life goes back to normal, we’ll be ready to provide our core services.
