In collaboration with GERAS and Osteoporosis Canada, FCO has developed resources to increase awareness of and knowledge about osteoporosis and fracture prevention among LTC residents’ families. These resources can be used by the Family Councils to increase awareness of and knowledge about osteoporosis/fracture prevention within their Long-Term Care Homes, thereby helping to promote good bone health among LTC residents.
This is a comprehensive list of resources on osteoporosis and fracture prevention that are appropriate for family caregivers. Share this widely with your home's Family Council and family members!
This talk sheet can be used by Family Councils to lead discussions on osteoporosis and fracture prevention at meetings and by family members as they get info on how osteoporosis and fractures affect their loved ones.
A visual overview of fracture risk factors for LTC residents.
A visual overview of recommendations for preventing fractures in long-term care.
A video about balancing minimizing risk with maximizing quality of life. This video features real-life stories from resident family members.
