FCO, in collaboration with Kobo and ETAG, is excited to announce phase 2 of our Literacy in Long-Term Care Digital Reading project!
How would you use eReaders to support literacy in your Long-Term Care Home? For this phase of the Digital Reading project, we’re inviting Family Councils to submit their own ideas on how they can use eReaders within their LTC Home to promote literacy and reading while using technology. If your Family Council has an idea around how to use eReaders to run a unique program for residents that promotes literacy and reading, submit a short application for a chance to receive a set of Kobo eReaders and gift cards. We’re open to any and all ideas for promoting literacy using eReaders so apply today!
All Family Councils in Ontario are eligible to participate in the project.
Projects must be (at minimum) co-designed and co-led by the Family Council. This means that the project can be done in collaboration with Home staff, volunteers, the Residents’ Council or other project partners, but the Family Council must play an active role in designing and carrying out the project.
At least 1 member of the Family Council must be able to attend an in-person or webinar eReader use training session.
Successful applicants will receive:
- 5-10 Kobo eReaders (dependent on number of projects approved)
- Kobo gift cards (amount dependent on number of projects approved)
- eReader use training session (Toronto and online sessions available)

We will continue to accept applications on a first-come, first-served basis until all project spots are full.
