Overview of event:

TCA's Community Circle program will be hosting an Active Hour for seniors to stay active from their homes.

  • This Community Circle Active Hour will include gentle exercise, stretching, and a relaxing guided meditation. This Active Hour will be entirely online.
  • The exercise will be movement focused on balance, posture, strength, and cardiovascular health.
  • Only a sturdy chair will be required.

Background of the facilitator:

Samantha Cornett is a Recreation Specialist, a certified Personal Trainer, a Gerontologist in training, and a former professional athlete. She is passionate about serving adults who wish to keep moving and stay connected. She currently runs a program called Aging Well which provides online group and private wellness services.

Community Circle Program:

TCA's Community Circle’s program seeks to engage Toronto’s diverse older adult communities and reduce social isolation during COVID-19. We intend to collaborate with local communities and host virtual webinars, in areas such as arts and culture, recreation, health and fitness and social services. We hope to create a virtual experience which provides a sense of belongingness that is safe, healthy and fun. The program is funded by way of a grant from the Resilient Communities Fund through Ontario Trillium Foundation.
