The Development of Practice Recommendations to Support Resident Well-Being in Long-Term Care Homes

A team of researchers from across Canada are seeking two family care partners to join their study which aims to explore the experiences of healthcare providers, residents, and family caregivers of residents in long-term care homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of the research is to develop practice recommendations to support the wellbeing of residents and balance the requirement of infection prevention and control measures with the objectives of patient-centered care.
Role: The family care partners will provide input on the team’s interview question guides that will be used for their interviews with family care partners and residents of long-term care homes, and provide input on the recommendations developed from the interviews. The family care partners can draw on their own experiences as a family care partner during the pandemic. At this time, the research team is seeking an expression of interest in this role should the study receive funding.
Eligibility: The team is seeking a family care partner of an Ontario long-term care home resident with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The family care partner must be 18 years of age or older with access to a computer and the internet.
Time commitment: Participate in three online meetings (1-1.5 hours each) for each year of the study (2024, 2025, 2026) with the research team and other collaborators. Compensation will be provided.
