Family Council Week: Learning and Sharing Successes

Family Council Week is in full swing! Councils across Ontario are promoting and celebrating their work through special educational events, social activities, and more. A key success factor for effective Family Councils is learning from one another and sharing your successes. To mark Family Council Week 2017, let’s do that together.
One of FCO’s goals is to mobilize knowledge exchange. We want to enable the sharing of information, experience, ideas and expertise. In order to do that, we need to hear from you. As you carry out your work throughout the year and celebrate during Family Council Week, keep in mind that we’re always looking for stories and updates from Councils that we can publish and documents that we can share as templates and samples for other Councils to use. Without your stories and resources to share, we can’t fully realize our mission to lead and support families in improving quality of life in Long-Term Care. At next week’s Changing the Way We Care Conference, we’re running Learning Circle and networking sessions to enable sharing of info, experience and ideas among Family Councils. These sessions will help build capacity of Family Councils to carry out their work and accomplish their goals. We’ll be discussing peer support, how Councils can use technology to improve their work, how to research and issue, and more. We’re also ensuring that there is time for Councils to share successes and challenges with conference attendees to get feedback and help others enhance their work. FCO believes passionately in the abilities and strengths of Family Councils and the conference will be an opportunity to engage in knowledge exchange to build the capacity of Councils. Join us to take part in the networking, sharing, and learning.
