I founded Elderado because of the challenges my family experienced when we were looking for care for my Grandma. My Grandma was hospitalized because of lupus. In the hospital my family was informed this was not the right place for my Grandma. We had 3 days to submit our top long-term care homes or find space in a retirement home. This was an incredibly stressful time for my family. The social workers at the hospital wanted to help, but their resources were little more than a list of all of Ontario's long-term care homes. We didn't know where to start, or even what the difference was between long-term care and retirement homes. Instead of being at my Grandma's bedside we frantically searched online and called as many homes as we could to collect as much information as we could find. We wanted to focus our search on the 5 or 6 homes that seemed to be the best fit to tour in person, but there was no good way to do this.
When we travel there are numerous websites like Booking.com and Trip Advisor that help us find the right hotel for our needs, why does nothing like this exist for elder care? So that is what we set out to build. We want to help simplify the process of finding long-term care and retirement homes so you can spend less time searching, and more time with your loved ones.
