Caregiving and Leadership

Presented by Qualicare

National Caregiver Day this year, falls on April 4th. Stats Canada reports more than half of women in Canada are caregivers. I was one of these women, who looked after two of my grandparents, who both had Dementia. Providing care to my grandparents, was extremely challenging, while managing my caregiving responsibilities, pursuing my business, and other important aspects of my life. I felt I was wearing 10 hats, at all time.

Even though it was difficult, this experience taught me important lessons about self-awareness and self-management, it improved my ability to negotiate, taught me how to build stronger strategic partnerships, be more visionary, and helped me better understand how to create an organizational culture that is based on relationships and trust. As a result, caring for my grandparents, has greatly improved my leadership abilities.

Please join me on April 4th, at 5:30 p.m., in Downtown Toronto at Staples Canada, as I share my lived experience as a caregiver and how it helped me become a better leader.
