Happy September
by Family Councils Ontario
Happy September!
Another summer has come and gone. It’s time for back-to-school photos, renewed goals and plans, and enjoying the last few weeks of warm weather. At FCO, we’re getting back into the swing of things and gearing up for a fall full of Family Council work. Here’s what we’ve been working on
The Resource Development Advisory Committee (RDAC) has been hard at work developing a tool to use in assessing the suitability of current FCO resources. The RDAC members will pilot the tool in the coming months before starting the full resource material assessment. Their work will ensure that FCO resources are useful and suitable for Family Council members across Ontario. We are so appreciative of their time and efforts!
In Northern Ontario, Natacha is finalizing the FCO Outreach Strategy and planning northern-specific outreach events. In addition, we’re working on a schedule of French webinars to increase our education and training to Francophone Councils. Stay tuned for more info!
In our Toronto office, Tiffany is working on two new portfolios including projects around diversity inclusion and social media communication. In addition to organizing guest blogs, webinars, and workshops for the upcoming season, Tiffany will be diving back into her studies for an in-depth online program in Public Policy.
We’re also excited to have a new 4th year BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) student from Ryerson joining us to complete her placement. Jessica will join us starting September 10th and will start planning her work then. We love having students in the office and sharing our experience and love of long-term care. Keep an eye out for more info on what she’ll be working on.
Sam and Lorraine continue to be busy working with our community and government partners to bring forward the voices of family caregivers and Family Councils. In addition, Sam is working on new e-learning sessions that will allow for on-demand, self-paced, and engaging learning and training opportunities for Council members and long-term care home staff. The first module is scheduled for release in 2020.
As always, all of our team members are available to connect with you to provide info on best practices, feedback on how to resolve an issue, or help you plan next steps in your Council work. Contact us!
